In Mexico, as in the UK, it is often the smaller cities that make the most rewarding destinations, offering more tranquil surroundings and greater exposure to historic traditions. Oaxaca is a noteworthy example: tucked away in misty mountain valleys in southern Mexico and giving its name to the surrounding province, it is firmly on the gringo tourist trail, yet equally popular with holidaying Mexicans. Oaxaca (pronounced ‘wa-ha-ca’ in case you were wondering) defies its small size in offering a wealth of cultural attractions, culinary finesse and a pulsating calendar of festivals.

Oaxaca’s centre is low rise and atmospheric, and in appearance can be largely attributed to its Spanish colonial past. However, the bold multicolour palette of the streetscapes and exotic plants give a distinctly Mexican flavour. Dos Equis veinticinco

Feliz lunes.!! Happy Monday.!! I hope everyone had a great week and an even better weekend.!! I started my new job last week and I was crazy busy, but it was awesome.!! I don’t know if it was my new perfume or the happiness from working, but I was a man magnet all week too.!! jajaja… I had two impromptu marriage proposals from strangers while I was working.!! And several men calling me to gauge my level of interest in dating them.! Like I said, sweet perfume or job elation – I kept looking in the mirror going “what the what.?!?” But all in all, it was a blast 🙂

The weekend was good too. I caught up with friends and saw some movies. I also had dinner with my dad 🙂 In this week’s Dos Equis’ commerical, the Most Interesting Man in the World gives us his opinion on packages. And no, I don’t mean UPS packages.! I mean male packages as in too tight pants.!! Luckily, none of my would be suitors had that drama going on.!! jajaja… I think this makes me in alignment with the Most Interesting Man in the World three weeks in a row.! That must be a new record 🙂 Enjoy.!! Y salud.!!

When I first learned about chopsticks, I wanted to learn how to use them.!! Unfortunately, I was not very talented. In the beginning, it was like an endurance test. How long could I last.? First it was five minutes, then eventually 10 minutes. My fingers would cramp up. I would sweat. I couldn’t pick up the wet rice at the bottom. At some point, I would surrender and grab a fork or a spoon.

Then I would stuff my mouth with impunity. You would have thought I hadn’t eat in days. I was so impatient to learn and so disheartened at how long it was taking. But finally, after what seemed like thousands of bowls of shrimp fried rice and noodles, I could last the entire meal. I had finally mastered chopsticks. It became a new source of pride for me.!!
