This is what my friend P. did today on her day off.!!! Are you jealous.?! You know I am.!! My lovely photographer friend spent the day on the beach, drinking Coronas, and waiting for Superbowl Sunday.! She’s a fan 🙂
I, on the other hand, spent the day running all of my errands because Chicago is turning into Chiberia overnight.!! Initially, the snow storm was only a small winter storm advisory of 5 to 8 inches through this evening. However, it has recently turned into a winter storm watch with 10 to 15 inches expected between this evening and Monday morning.!! Wtf.?!!
Up until today, I thought this winter was much more bearable than last winter where I cried everyday.! The only solace I have is that tomorrow is the first day of February. So, that means, we’re that much closer to spring. Yeah, I know…it’s all I’ve got. Oh, oh, oh, and tomorrow looks like a huge pajama day. Really, I’m trying to look on the bright side 😀

Feliz jueves.!! Happy Thursday.!! I apologize for the delay in getting Dos Equis out….it’s been a long two weeks. Traveling can surely take a toll on a mind and body…not to mention your soul.! However, I saw so many wonderful people on my sojourn.! And I had so much fun even though there was very little sleep.!! Throughout my trip, the one message that resonated with me was learning to be present or be in the now. And so I decided to wait to post this blog until I could actually be in the present and not just slap something together to say it was checked off.!
Also, this week’s Dos Equis’ commercial is a radio commercial. Unfortunately, we are nearing the end of our relationship with the Most Interesting Man in the World unless they make a new commercial soon.!! I will, of course, keep you all updated 🙂 In this week’s commercial, our favorite protagonist is so charming, they had to make a vaccine for it.!! Personally, I think I may need a dosage.!! jajaja… Oh yeah, and dolphins appear when he’s around.!! Must be nice 🙂 Enjoy.! Y salud.!!

Feliz domingo a todos.!! Happy Sunday everyone.!! I hope your week/weekend has thus far been exciting.! I know mine has been amazing.! Of course, I spent some lovely time with good friends.! Plus, I received some great news this week which made me very happy 🙂 And, I am going on an impromptu trip where I will work, but I also get to see one of my bestest friends. We used to be roommates in L.A. many eons ago and boy do we have stories.!! jajaja… But that’s for another blog.!!
Since, I’m traveling today and don’t know exactly where I will be tomorrow – Dos Equis is one day early.! I wish I could have found a better video of this week’s Dos Equis’ commercial. It’s priceless.!! The Most Interesting Man in the World is so respected that even mosquitoes don’t bite him.!! How can I get on that short list.?!? jajaja… Plus, Cuba imports cigars from the Most Interesting Man in the World.!! Now, that’s called star power 🙂 Enjoy.! Y salud.!!

I’ve always enjoyed traveling.! I love airports, passports, new cities, new cuisines, and meeting old friends and new ones.! However, one of the aspects of travel I hate is the time change. I know it’s necessary. Clearly, when I’m having breakfast in Chicago, people on the other side of the world don’t want to be having breakfast (unless that’s their thing) during the evening. But traveling can definitely leave one feeling out of sorts.! I remember one particular trip to Florence where my brother and I made the crucial mistake of arriving to our hotel and taking a nap before seeing the magnificent pieces of artwork at the Uffizi.!! When we tried to rouse my brother’s fiancee (now wife), she promptly screamed, “I don’t care about the artwork, I want to sleep.!!” And there you have it, time matters. In more ways than just wasting it. One of the many reasons, I loved Playa del Carmen was that there was no time change. Chicago and Playa del Carmen were on the same time zone.! It was fabulous.! I was never discombobulated. I was never tired when I arrived. I was always ready to hit the beach 🙂

There were only two weeks during the year when Playa and I were not in sync because Chicago (the U.S.) changed their clocks in the spring and fall one week ahead of Playa del Carmen (Mexico). But that was a small price to pay.! Then recently, I heard that Playa del Carmen was going to align itself with the East Coast instead of the Central Zone.!! I have to admit I had a crisis moment.! They couldn’t take that away from me too.! I already wasn’t living in Playa anymore, this just seemed like more hogwash to drive us apart. I was finally able to read the news report today. And it’s not as awful as I had imagined. Somewhat similar to Y2K and the Mayan Apocalypse. But it wasn’t a bed of roses either. Apparently, Playa del Carmen or the entire state of Quintana Roo will remain on Daylight Savings Time. Which means for seven months (from the beginning of April until the end of October) Playa del Carmen will remain aligned with the Central Zone. Well, more or less, remember that one week at the beginning and end which doesn’t correlate.? But during the other five months or basically winter, Playa del Carmen will be aligned with the East Coast. No me gusta.! I feel like Persephone, you know the one who ate half of a pomegranate while in the underworld with Hades.! She had to live with Hades for six months of the year and was only able to see her mother the other six months. I mean I guess it’s better than being with Hades the whole time. Oh well… I guess I will survive. I will also have to spring forward and not fall back again. So in celebration of this new time change, I’m going on a trip. I’m gonna start on the west coast and end up on the east coast before I return back to Chicago 🙂 I apologize for the next week if my posts are not timely.! I’m about to go travel…

at the end of a rainbow.!! It rained last week in Playa Del Carmen even though it is technically not rainy season there. But as is the case after almost every storm in playa, a rainbow or arco iris magically appeared.
I immensely enjoyed seeing the rainbows after a storm when I lived in playa. They were beautiful – the colors, the size, the majesty. I don’t see as many rainbows in Chicago, even though it does rain here frequently in fall and spring. Something about the atmospheric conditions in Playa del Carmen bring on a bounty of rainbows.
My friend P. was kind enough to take this photo of the rainbow on Monday. I thought during this winter spell, we could all enjoy the beauty and promise of a rainbow 🙂
