playa calling…

Hello everyone…more snow and cold hit Chicago last night and is expected throughout the weekend. My whiny self has no energy to blog today 🙂 Please enjoy this poem I wrote from last year.!

“¿Me recuerdas, Rosa?”, the soft Caribbean breeze whispers to me. It seductively tickles the lower lobe of my ear. I smile wistfully.

“Do you remember me, Rose?”, los suaves susurros brisa del Caribe a mí. Es seductora cosquillea el lóbulo inferior de mi oreja. Sonrío con nostalgia.

No me olvides, Rosa,” the gentle ocean waves plead. They gently caress the soles of my feet as the tide slinks in and out onto the soft sand. I sigh contentedly.

“Don’t forget me, Rose,” las olas del mar suaves suplican. Ellos acarician suavemente las plantas de mis pies como la marea se colara dentro y hacia fuera sobre la arena blanda. Suspiro con satisfacción.

“¿Por qué no me amas, Rosa?”, the glorious sun implores me from the azure sky. It lovingly soothes and warms the nape of my neck. I close…

Feliz martes.!! Happy Tuesday.!! I hope everyone had a great weekend and is having a great week.! My weekend was a little on the downside as I received some not so great personal news. One of my uncles in Croatia passed away 😦 I was hoping to go for a visit next summer and hang out with my family. Now it will be a bittersweet reunion. I was going to complain about my haircut which I’m still on the fence about, but after that news, it seems silly to complain about my hair. It will grow back.!

Also, the weather in Chicago is still too cold. So my mind is always daydreaming about sunny beaches and cool beverages. As it’s been a long and emotional weekend…please forgive my short (and delayed) post today. Relish in the latest Corona commercial and I will see you soon.! Enjoy.!! Y salud.!!

mexico calling…

This week has been pretty intense with my new job and the cold. So please enjoy this post from last year…it’s a poem I wrote about Mexico 🙂

I hear you calling me through the frozen lake. “Rosa, ven aca“, you murmur through the bubbles pressing themselves against the massive ice sheet that was once Lake Michigan.

Te escucho llamarme a través del lago congelado. “Rose, come here”, se murmuraba a través de las burbujas de presionar contra la masiva capa de hielo que una vez fue el lago Michigan.

I hear you whispering my name with every stride through the snow banks. “Rosa, que haces?“, you inquire with every crunch of snow underfoot.

Te escucho susurrar mi nombre con cada paso a través de los bancos de nieve. “Rose, what are you doing?”, hace su consulta con cada crujido de la nieve bajo los pies.

Apparently it wasn’t enough that last month Chicago had a record snowfall during Super Bowl weekend. Today (and tomorrow), the city is going to hit a new all-time high.! Or should I say low. Temperatures are currently at 3 degrees Fahrenheit with the wind chill making it feel like 20 to 30 degrees below zero.!! Deep sigh… Tomorrow’s high..low I mean…will be around 2 degrees not counting the wind chill. I’m wearing about 4 to 5 layers of clothing depending on what part of my body you’re talking about.!

But back in Mexico, my lovely friends J. and C. went to Isla Holbox or Holbox Island. It’s 75 degrees Fahrenheit in Holbox and they are wearing bathing suits.!! I’m not sure that even counts as one layer of clothing.!?! But I don’t hate them. Really I don’t. I’m just going to cuddle on the sofa with my blanket, some green tea, and my soup. All the while thinking warm thoughts as I gaze at their photos. It will be spring soon, I tell myself. It’s just around the corner….

Feliz lunes mis amigos.!! Happy Monday my friends.!! I hope everyone’s Valentine’s Day and weekend was special whether you spent it with a special someone, your friends, your family, or yourself.! I was supremely lucky and got to do a little of all of the above.!! And managed to get some roses too 😀

This week is also looking to be fantastic as I start my new gig tomorrow.! Yay me.!! However, the weather is not cooperating. Chicago is having a super cold week with below freezing temperatures in some instances. Needless to say, it’s a great time of year to cuddle and canoodle with someone.! jajaja

As I mentioned last week, The Most Interesting Man in the World is on hiatus. So in the meantime, we are moving to another much beloved Mexican beer – Corona.!! And considering how cold it’s been here lately, Corona’s Find Your Beach campaign seems pretty relevant right about now.! Have a great week everyone.! Enjoy.!! Y salud.!!

amor y amistad

Ah amor… que hermoso amor… It is Valentine’s Day here in the United States. And married couples, non married couples, and lovers will all be partaking in some ritualistic behavior and time honored traditions to prove that their love really is true 🙂 In fact, there will probably be many proposals as well because it is truly romantic to get engaged on Valentine’s Day, no.? tee-hee…

I have to admit, I have always preferred the celebration of Valentine’s Day in Mexico.! In Mexico, Valentine’s Day or Día de San Valentín is more commonly referred to as El Día del Amor y la Amistad or the Day of Love…
