Victoria beer that is…
Victoria beer was one of my favorite beers to drink in Mexico. It went especially well with an icy michelada. And until 2013, it wasn’t available in the states. So I’m excited that I can drink it in Chicago now too. As we wait for the new The Most Interesting Man in the World to get another commercial, I thought this would be a good time to introduce you to Victoria beer.
This commercial is called No manches guey which is a slightly vulgar Mexican expression that roughly translates to “Don’t yank my chain”. In this lovely Victoria beer commercial, three friends don’t believe that their one friend is truly Mexican.
They accuse him of being from Wisconsin and that his last name is Smith. The accused friend counters that he loves eating everything picante (hot and spicy). He also says he loves to dance the Ranchera, a traditional Mexican dance, and is a good fútbol (soccer) goalie.
His friends nod their head in agreement, but it’s not until they see him sit back holding his Victoria beer that they proclaim him a true Mexican.!! Love it.!! Have a great weekend everyone.!! Enjoy.! Y salud.! 🙂

As promised, here is the Dos Equis commercial introducing the new The Most Interesting Man in the World. I’m still not sold on him 100%. I know, I know, sometimes it’s hard to let go of the past. And sometimes, the new just sucks.
Dear bloggers, I would like to know your thoughts on the rebound guy. I look forward to hearing from you 🙂 In the meantime, enjoy your weekend.!! Cheers.! Y salud.!

Saying goodbye is never easy and especially to The Most Interesting Man in the World.!!! And while the world said goodbye to him back in September, I’ve been avoiding the whole goodbye scene. I somehow felt that if I didn’t post it here it wasn’t real. But alas, it is all too real. Dos Equis already replaced The Most Interesting Man in the World with another.!?!? Is nothing sacred.?!?! I guess not. hmph…
So the time has come for me (and you fellow bloggers and dear readers) to say “adios amigo” to the man who entertained us with such charm and derring do. Next week, I’ll introduce us to the rebound guy for The Most Interesting Man in the World. I’m not sold on him yet. Excuse me while I go find a kleenex, I have something in my eye 😦 In the meantime, have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy.! Y salud.!!

I mean seriously I can’t make this stuff up.!! This picture taken yesterday in Playa is sheer perfection.!! An ocean view complete with a spectacular rainbow (arco iris) from one of the tables at Zenzi Beach Bar (a personal favorite I might add).!
Due to all the storm activity in the Caribbean, the sky is always a beautiful mix of azure blue, clouds, and rainbows. That’s the upside. The downside is Hurricane Matthew was in the neighborhood and is heading north. Wishing everyone in the hurricane’s path Godspeed.

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a new Tecate commercial. So in the spirit of surviving this political season and celebrating the weekend – here’s a new Tecate ad.!! Enjoy.!! Y salud 🙂

A cubeta or a bucket of Coronas is a most wondrous refresher on a hot, sunny, tropical day.!!! Of course, it could also be a cubeta of Tecate, Dos Equis, Modelo, Victoria, or Pacifico.! You get the idea 🙂 Enjoy your weekend everyone.!!
I have to admit…I have missed the Most Interesting Man in the World.!! And I promised everyone back in the day after we had run through all of his commercials that I would bring him back whenever possible. So he’s back for Halloween.! Strangely enough though, it’s only a radio advert, but it was so FUNNY and SO the Most Interesting Man in the World that I had to post it.!
Some of my personal favorites from the commercial – “Spirits will haunt a house just to meet him.” And, “Werewolves bring his picture to the barber.” jajajajajaja… I hope your Halloween weekend was wonderful.!! Enjoy.! Y salud.!!

Feliz lunes.!! Happy Monday.!! Volví.! I’m back.! Since, I started writing this blog a little over 2 years ago, I have never felt the need to take a break. Until now… Dealing with my father’s sudden and very serious illness while being his personal assistant, advocate, and support; working; and let’s not forget trying to get some sleep required a give somewhere else. And unfortunately, dear readers, the give became my blog. So please forgive my three week absence, but this girl needed a break. Luckily for all of us, the wheel of life turns and this life is looking up a little bit lately.!
My father has been breathing on his own for almost four weeks now.!! And three weeks ago, after 2 whole months, I was finally able to speak to my dad.!! I can’t even begin to describe the elation I felt hearing his voice and realizing that even though he was still a little confused regarding what had happened, he knew who I was and spoke my name.!! There had been some worry that he might have suffered some memory loss. And as we know, the brain is a wondrous and complicated beast. How did I know whether he would forget me, but remember goulash. Or forget me and remember the Bulls. It could happen, he really loves food and the Bulls 🙂 So most assuredly a moment that at once made me scream in joy and weep with relief. My dad is in rehab now for the last part of his recovery. While the timeline is moving at a glacial pace, I remind myself it is moving.
Also, the summer is finally upon us in Chicago. The weather of late has been superb – sunny skies, breezes, and a little rain to cool us off as needed. I’ve been able to spend some time with close friends and relax. And really isn’t that what life is about – spending time with loved ones – eating, drinking, and sharing. This week’s much overdue Corona commercial celebrates sharing with good friends, old and new, while enjoying good food and drink.! Enjoy.!! Y salud.!!!

Feliz miercoles.!! Happy Wednesday.!! I hope everyone had a spectacular weekend.!! Here in the states, it was July 4th, so it was a pretty exciting weekend.! One of my friends just got back from Papa New Guinea. Since she knows I’m a coffee fiend, she brought me back some coffee from there.!! I can’t wait to try it 🙂 I also saw my lovely friend who moved to Puerto Rico recently. She was in town newly engaged and showing off her ring and fiancé or novio.!! jajaja… We spent a lovely day with tacos, elotes, and Corona.! Did I mention her novio is Mexican.! It was great to see her and celebrate.
I also got to see fireworks…everywhere actually.!! I saw them while I was visiting with my engaged friend. And then on the drive home, I saw fireworks along the expressway pretty much as I drove by every township. It was pretty cool 🙂 Sorry I didn’t get any photos. On another note, my dad is doing a little better. I stopped by to see him too. I can’t wait until we can hang out and eat some chicken wings.!!
And as for the weather…well…it feels like Dublin in July. Cold and rainy. Not summer Chicago weather at all. This week’s Corona commercial is a letter from the winter season to summer. But really it may as well be a letter from the city of Chicago to summer reminding it of all the reasons we LOVE summer.!! I’ll have more pretty pictures of Playa tomorrow. Until then, enjoy.! Y salud.!!

Feliz miercoles.!! Happy Wednesday.!! I hope everyone is enjoying their week. Mine is a little crazy busy as it’s a short work week here in the States. This weekend is the July 4th holiday.!! Not much to report this week. No big news…which is actually nice. The weather in Chicago has been kinda cool and rainy. I think Mother Nature thinks it’s still spring.! jajaja.. But it’s great sleeping weather, so no complaints here 🙂
This week’s Corona commercial features the mandatory summer necessity – the cooler. You need it for the beach, picnics, friend’s bar-be-ques, and most definitely for July 4th bashes.!! I hope everyone has a great week.! I’ll see you in a few days with a full moon photo.!! Until then, enjoy.! Y salud.!!
