Nothing will ever replace the Tecate commercials on this blog.! Or in my heart for that matter. But when a place, a job, a commercial series has run its course, it’s run its course.!! Next or próximo..!!

Today I introduce you to Dos Equis.!! Dos Equis, just like Tecate, is produced by the Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Brewery. The company also brews Sol, Bohemia, Superior, Carta Blanca, Noche Buena, Indio and Casta. I decided to focus on Dos Equis for two reasons. The first, Dos Equis lager is my favorite beer for micheladas.!!

And secondly, Dos Equis, has fantastic commercials like Tecate.! The Most Interesting Man in the World is a character in many of the Dos Equis commercials. I have heard rumours the character is loosely based on Fernando Lamas.! The commercials usually feature the character in death defying exploits from his youth and inevitably end with him surrounded by beautiful women.!

So today, let’s raise a glass and toast to our new series. I hope you enjoy the latest installment of Mexican beer commericals. See you tomorrow.! Enjoy.! Y salud.!!

I really should have published this post a few days ago. But I think I’ve been dreading it. No, I don’t think…I know I’ve been dreading it. We have come to the end of the Tecate commericals. In fact, I have recycled some of my favorites recently in an attempt not to reach this grand finale. But alas, barring a complete recycling which seems overkill, we have offically come to the end.

Tecate commercials have been a huge part of my blog history. Besides the fact that they added humor every weekend and allowed me to add a fun piece to the weekly mix – the commercials resonated with me because I was introduced to them by my ex-novio. Therefore, they reminded me of Mexico. But as with my ex and Mexico, it is time to move on. At the end of this week, I will introduce a new commercial entry to lead us into our weekends. But until then, let’s enjoy one last traipse through some lovely Tecate memories.! Enjoy.! Y salud.!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day.!! I saved Tecate especially for today because it is the official holiday and my unpacking has finally reached an end.! How delightful.! I need a celebratory beer now more than ever. And what better day than today in Chicago where everyone is Irish for the day 🙂 A city where we dye our river green to commemorate this awesome holiday.!

Strangely enough, the Irish also have an impressive history with Mexico. The Mexican-American War of 1846-48 was fought due to the U.S. annexation of Texas which Mexico strongly disputed (see wikipedia.com). A group of immigrants and expatriates (mainly of Irish, German, French, Italian, and other European nationalities) defected from the American side during the war.

There are several theories as to why the men deserted, but the main one posits their shared cultural and religious heritage with Mexico. The Mexican army/government also offered them citizenship, land grants, and more money. The deserters formed the St. Patrick’s Battalion or El Batallón de San Patricio and fought with the Mexican Army against the U.S. Even today, they are honored as heroes in Mexico on September 12th and March 17th.!

Today’s Tecate commercial honors St. Patrick’s Day, the Irish in Chicago, and the Irish in Mexico. It is called “¿quien dijo que los hombres?” or “Who said that men?” I thought it was a good commercial for today because it’s all about celebrations which St. Patrick’s day is about here in Chicago. However, the commercial goes a step further by asking the age old questions about men – Who said that men don’t have feelings? Who said that men don’t sing? Who said that men don’t dance? And finally, who said that men don’t love and do great feats for love? Apparently, not Tecate men.!! Enjoy.! Y salud.!!

Feliz lunes.! Happy Monday.! This past week has been super busy with setting up my new apartment, so I apologize for the tardiness of my blog post. I have finally seen belongings I haven’t set eyes on in three years.!! Sometimes, it’s nice to be near your belongings once again. There is a time to roam and a time to nest 🙂 Plus, I started a new job last week, so that took up a lot of my time – logistics of getting there, learning the new position, and all of my co-workers names.!! Whew.!

This last year being back in Chicago has been a long haul for me. There were many times, I thought about just giving up. The only problem was I wasn’t sure what I was giving it up for.?! So I stayed and plodded through. I am finally feeling as if I have made some headway. In fact, I feel like I have fought an epic battle this past year. So to honor this last year, I offer you this week’s (or really last week’s) Tecate commercial.

It’s called Tecate Batallas Epicas or Tecate Epic Battles. The slogan reads “los verdaderos hombres solo usan los guantes” or “real men only use gloves” because Tecate is a proud and loyal sponsor of boxing in case you are wondering. This week, I also feel that “las verdaderas mujeres solo usan los guantes tambien.!” I know for a fact this woman feels that way 🙂 Enjoy.! Y salud.!!

It’s the end of the weekend.!! And it’s the beginning of a new week.! And I for one am very grateful.! Moving and cleaning this week has been extremely exhausting. I think even my eyelashes hurt.!! jajaja… This week is also exciting because I start a brand new job.! One I have been waiting for several months 🙂 So I raise a Tecate to all my friends who helped me move and helped me during my job search.! Thank you.! Thank you.! Here’s to an amazing ride.!!

To celebrate, this week’s Tecate commercial is called Tecate Vestido or Tecate Dress. It’s hilarious..!! A woman comes out of the bedroom with a dress on and asks her man “does she look fat in it?” He replies that she does look a little fat or un poco gordita. The woman begins to cry all through their evening together while the man spends the rest of the night consoling her. Or does he??? Enjoy.!! Y salud..!!

Dear fellow readers and bloggers – moving is bleep…bleep…hard.! I apologize for my tardiness in posting my Tecate blog. But I haven’t even had time to think about having a beer with all the moving.! Thank goodness I had some great friends to help me with the move.!

Tonight I want to revisit one of my favorite Tecate commercials. It’s called Tecate Novia or Tecate Bride. The plot goes something like this – When they were young, Jorge promised to marry this girl Valeria when they got older. Since then they both have changed and grown…up. Valeria finds Jorge in a bar and reminds him of his promise to marry her. He tells her that was so long ago and they were young. Valeria begins to cry…and the rest is Tecate history..!! Let’s drink to all the men who keep their promises.! Enjoy. Y salud 🙂

Feliz el fin de semana.!! Happy weekend.!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s Day weekend.!! I know I did. I spent quality time with my lovely friends both on the phone and in person. Plus, today at work a lovely co-worker gave me a giant candy decorated caramel apple.! Hello yummy.!!

Now to the question, did all of my Valentine’s Day wishes come true.? Unfortunately, no. Sometimes love isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Our lovely Tecate mujer discovers that in this week’s Tecate commercial. It’s called Tecate Pétalos de Rosas or Tecate Rose Petals. Our lovely protagonist thinks she is in for a romantic evening.! And of course she is, but Tecate style.!! jajaja… Wishing everyone a great week.! Enjoy.! Y salud.!!
